Family Therapy

Whatever your or your loved one's stage in life, psychotherapy and counselling sessions are tailored to meet your individual and family's needs. I use evidence-based methods, meaning the applied approaches have been proven with scientific evidence to reduce symptoms and improve mental health.
Childhood sessions (for children ages 0-12 years) often incorporate play and parental involvement.
Adolescent sessions (for youth ages 13-18 years) offer a private space to talk openly about challenging topics and problem-solve collaboratively.
Adult sessions (19 years +) are client-centred, goal-oriented and strength-based to help you develop a better understanding of your concerns and help you improve your quality of life.
Parent-child and family sessions focus on strengthening relationships, helping individuals feel heard, and improving communication and connection.

Assessment
Psychological Assessments
Available Online and In-person
The value of a mental health or psychological assessment for yourself or your child is to gain better understanding and clarity about the factors that are contributing to and underlying current struggles, as well as identify existing strength factors that can support functioning. I can help you determine if symptoms are consistent with a particular diagnosis or set of diagnoses, consistent with normal development, or due to an alternate explanation. Importantly, with these assessment results, I can make practical recommendations for support systems at home, school, work and in the community. Consultation with allied support persons (e.g., doctors, teachers, employers, and other family members) is available if warranted and upon request.

Cost will vary depending on the length and complexity of the assessment. Please contact me for a quote.

Effective Parenting Strategies
Parent and Child Advocacy
Community Connection
Parenting consultations or coaching sessions are available for caregivers seeking to strengthen family and community connections, to better understand their child's mental health and/or to learn strategies to support and advocate for them. In conjunction with their child's therapy, parenting consultations can help extend the benefits of mental health treatment to the home environment. Alternatively, parents with children or teens reluctant or not ready to engage in their own therapy may find parenting consultations helpful.
Perhaps you are seeking support to help navigate the impact of your own health/mental health/life stressors on parenting your children, or are finding yourself being really hard on yourself while trying to be the perfect caregiver. I am here to address your caregiving needs.

Working alongside you, I also offer consultations with community members for parents wanting support explaining their child's challenges and strengths to promote wider-spread understanding, advocating for them and ensuring alignment across settings. This can include reviewing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and meeting with school staff or other care providers.

Payment and Insurance
Complete payment for therapy and consultation sessions are due at the end of each session. I currently accept cash and e-transfers as methods of payment. We can discuss a fee schedule for assessments at or before the first assessment appointment.
Psychological services are often partially covered by extended health care plans. Please check with your extended benefits provider to inquire about your plan and coverage, and whether a doctor's referral is needed for reimbursement. Direct billing to insurance providers is not available at this time. I will provide you with a receipt after each session to submit to your extended health company. Psychological services are not covered by the Medical Services Plan (MSP).
Cancellations
Please give at least 48-hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment so that appointment times can be offered to clients waiting to be seen. Late cancellations and missed appointments are charged at the regular rate, as it is usually not possible to fill appointment spots on short notice .
